Dr. Nevashnee Perumal is a South African of Indian indenture heritage, who holds a PhD in social work and vast practice experience in the field of child protection.

She is currently serving as a senior lecturer in the Department of Social Development Professions, Nelson Mandela University (NMU), teaching in the areas of social work supervision, management,

and ethics and researching in the areas of indigenising the social work curriculum by

leading an NRF‑funded project called the African Knowledge Production Incubators.
