Professor Priscalia Khosa - ASASWEI Secretary

BIOGRAPHY

Prof Priscalia Khosa is an Associate Professor in the Department of Social Work and Community Development at University of Johannesburg. She has eleven years’ experience in higher education. She has published widely on her fields of research interests, which include social work supervision, social work education, substance abuse and decolonial research. In 2019, she was awarded a Social Work Emerging Educator of the Year Award by the Association of South African Social Work Education Institutions (ASASWEI).

She also received an Emerging Scholar Award for the Sixteenth International Conference on Interdisciplinary Social Sciences (ISS) in 2021. In recognition of her steady record of publications, Prof Khosa was awarded a National Research Foundation (NRF) “Y2” Rating for the period 2025–2030. This was a defining milestone of her academic journey by becoming the first black South African woman in social work education to receive an NRF “Y” rating.
