BIOGRAPHY
Fatima Mmusi holds a PhD in Social Work from North-West University, a master’s degree in clinical social work from the University of Johannesburg, and a bachelor’s degree in social work from the University of the Witwatersrand. She is currently a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Social Work at the University of Johannesburg and currently holds the Treasurer position for ASASWEI from 2023 to 2027. Dr Mmusi has more than a decade of experience in both professional social work practice and academia.
Her research interests encompass mental health, family interventions including foster, blended and adoptive families, adolescents reported to be presenting with risk behaviour, and family preservation interventions. Her academic responsibilities include teaching and supervising undergraduate and postgraduate students. She also serves as both an internal and external examiner for postgraduate research and as a peer reviewer for national and international scholarly journals.
