| Biosketch | Dr Annie Singh is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Law at the University of KwaZulu-Natal and specializes in the field of Statutory and Constitutional Interpretation. She holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree (LLB) (1996) and a Master of Laws Degree (LLM) (2000) from the University of Durban-Westville and has been conferred a Doctorate in Philosophy from the University of KwaZulu-Natal (2015) for her thesis entitled – The Impact of the Constitution on Transforming the Process of Statutory Interpretation in South Africa. She is involved in the supervision of both Masters and PhD students and has attended a number of conferences both nationally and internationally and has delivered papers on a host of different areas in law. Dr Singh’s research interests include the rights of vulnerable groups, which include mainly women and children and she has also published extensively in these areas. She is strong protagonist of women’s rights and has spoken out publicly against the abuse of women and gender-based violence which has slowly and insidiously been eroding at the heart of South African society. | Abstract | Abstract The Covid-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on the education sector, especially the with regard to the education of hearing-impaired learners. Although these actions had significantly slowed the spread of the virus, they have also caused a number of difficulties that have had a negative impact on educational systems for children with hearing impairment disabilities the world over. Online learning has presented a particular set of challenges for education for learners with hearing impairment during Covid-19. This paper will investigate the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the remote learning of the high school learners with hearing impairment disabilities in Durban, Kwa-Zulu Natal. The research findings that are presented are intended to assist policy makers, teacher, parents and learners to learn about the impact of Covid-19 on the remote learning of high school learners with hearing impairment disabilities. |
