Abstract Generation Z, born in a world driven by technology, has been identified as the most anxious cohort to date; where spending 9 hours daily online is a normal way to function and communicate. GenZ is at a heightened time of identity formation, navigating their emotional reactions and learning to regulate themselves. With the undercurrent of online platforms requiring constant interaction, emotions are aroused by a response or lack thereof on their posts; the response arousal can influence the user’s well-being by taking the shape of mixed emotions including anxiety and rumination. A literature review of tools and guidance to empower and capacitate parents within their parental journey INDICATES THAT tools such as co-monitoring and joint parental use of online platforms have had a greater effect towards reduced online usage than applying restrictive measures with their adolescents.
